I am a collage and print artist currently making work provoked by mass media depictions of women.I aim to confront mass media produced depictions that reinforce patriarchal sexist society and highlight the on going cultural acceptability of highly sexualised images.
Increasing technological advances have bought about numerous apps that allow more images into our daily lives.It is the relationship between image and audience that forms the basis of my work. Sexual content dominates the media especially with regards to the portrayal of women within advertising. Persistent everyday imagery of women depicted as having a secondary importance within western society reinforces this ideal and so men/women become socially conditioned to this idea rupturing the idea of equality among the sexes.
